Have you been to Napkin Friends yet? The food truck was in the Upper Queen Anne Umpqua Bank parking lot twice last month, serving up their version of “Jewish food with a twist” – their signature Panini is the Latke Press Sandwich which uses two latkes (potato pancakes) instead of bread to envelop the sandwich filling.

Napkin Friends is owned by Queen Anne resident Jonny Silverberg, previously a chef at Pomegranate. You can see him in action, talking about the latke press sandwich concept, and making variations of the sandwiches, in the video below:

Silverberg will be bringing the Napkin Friends truck back to Queen Anne in both June and July. You can find the truck at the Umpqua parking lot tomorrow, June 7th from 11am-2pm, as well as on June 21st, July 12th, and July 26th.

In addition to the regular menu, there will be one special each shift, focused on summer flavors. You can track the truck and their specials via Twitter, Facebook, or their web site.

Still on the fence? Well, this week Zagat named Napkin Friends as one of seven Seattle food trucks that “live up to the hype” and if you want a sneak peek at the Napkin Friends team in action, you can watch the KING 5 Evening Magazine feature on them – just click the image below (fast forward to about the 3-minute mark for the feature):

If your mouth is watering, mark your calendars for the dates when Napkin Friends will be on Queen Anne. And, yes, there will be napkins!
