While it may take place a neighborhood away, the Seattle Turkey Trot is one-of-a-kind in Seattle. Plus, it’s close enough for Queen Anne residents to take the hop, skip, or jump over to Ballard for the 9th annual 5K fun run/walk – before Thanksgiving festivities kick off for the day.

STTPosterThe Seattle Turkey Trot takes place on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 26th. Early registration is open now and runs through next Monday, November 17th. Tickets are $15 for kids 10 and under, $25 for adults and kids 11 and over. When the early bird (turkey?) prices end, the registration fees go up to $20 for kids and $35 for adults.

The Turkey Trot is family-friendly, costumes are welcome, and all proceeds benefit the Ballard Food Bank. Last year, over 3,500 Turkey Trotters participated, raising $110,000 for the Ballard Food Bank.

Seattle Turkey Trot costumesThe Seattle Turkey Trot is the first Thanksgiving run of its kind in Seattle, started by Ballardites Erin Fortier, Matt Ramme, and John O’Brien 9 years ago. At the time, there were no other organized options for a Thanksgiving run – and to this day, it’s a great way to spend time with family and friends before the big meal.

The race starts at 9am at 32nd Ave NW and NW 85th St and ends at Golden Gardens Park (race route is here). Register today to save on the fees, and plan to trot over to Ballard on Thanksgiving morning for a fun run benefitting a good cause.
