In the span of about ten November days, the fate of children’s store Once Upon A Time went from uncertain to sealed, ending on a positive note. Queen Anne resident Liz Heinlein saw our post on the potential closure or sale of Once Upon A Time and she jumped on the opportunity to become a small business owner on Queen Anne and keep the kids’ shop open at 1622 Queen Anne Ave N.
For the past few months, Liz has been busy revamping the shop and this weekend is the Grand Re-Opening to show off all of the hard work. Plus, Kobi Yamada, author of the best-selling children’s book, “What Do You Do With An Idea” will be at the store on Saturday from 2pm to 4pm. Yamada (pictured to the left) will sign copies of his book, which sold over 300,000 copies as of July 2015, according to Publishers Weekly.
Visitors can also see the new classroom studio space, a “twinkle tree” in the center of the shop, and a new book room. The upstairs studio space will host classes and events like birthday parties. There’s also a new community growth chart to help measure Queen Anne kiddos as they grow up with Once Upon A Time.
The shop has new clothing and shoes to choose from, with a new dress up room to try on togs and a new shoe alcove with a try-on bench sized for little ones. Plus, there’s a big sale on old inventory to help make room for the new lines.
Once Upon A Time will also have a Balloon Club – for the price of a high-five, Balloon Club members get a free balloon. Plus, crafts for kids and giveaways to help make the weekend more fun and festive for shoppers.
The Grand Re-Opening is this Saturday, 10am-7pm and Sunday, 11-5pm. Stop by Once Upon A Time this weekend to help Liz and company celebrate the revamped shop, here to stay on Queen Anne!
