In less than two weeks, the Queen Anne Farmers Market will be back in full swing, bringing fresh produce, beautiful floral bouquets, live music, cooking demos and tasty bites to the neighborhood every Thursday through October. It’s the 10th season for QAFM so be sure to mark your calendars for Thursday, June 1st to kick off the season!
Opening day is also the first day of QAFM’s free Roots to Shoots weekly kids program. The first of its kind in Seattle, Roots to Shoots focuses on educating kids about the local food system with fun activities, monthly themes, a two-bite challenge to encourage kids to try new tastes, and market bucks they can spend on market produce. The annual kids’ Radish Race will help celebrate this new program, with a race-start of 4:30pm on opening day.
Also new to the market this year is a bag-check station. Market shoppers can check their purchases to free them up for dining on wares from rotating food trucks and artisan vendors or enjoying live music performances. On opening day, Right as Rain with The Colonels of Truth will perform starting at 5pm.
Queen Anne Farmers Market runs every Thursday, June 1 – October 12, 3pm-7:30pm along W Crockett between Queen Anne Ave N and 1st Ave W. It’s the only independent farmers market in Seattle and a summer staple everyone looks forward to – just imagine, in less than 2 weeks, you can be enjoying tasty fresh produce from the market!
