This Thursday is not only Queen Anne Farmers Market day, it’s also the second annual Queen Anne Playstreet. Thanks to a lot of behind-the-scenes work by Queen Anne Greenways, the Playstreet turn a portion of 1st Ave W at Crockett St (right by the market) from 4pm to 7pm this Thursday, July 27th, into a Playstreet for kids.

Here’s what you can expect on Thursday for the little ones:

Activities:

Scooters, pedal cars, blocks, chalk, hula hoops, Foosball and other equipment made available by Gina Saxby, Director of the QA Community Center. QACC may also provide staff demonstrations of class activities.

Blue Highway Games will bring both table and yard games to provide some challenging group activities.

Don Cheyette of Seattle Adventure Sports will be setting up his mobile climbing wall for older kids. This well-supervised action activity will introduce the popular Northwest sport of climbing to those who haven’t yet had a chance to try it.

Christine Woten, Children’s Librarian at the Queen Anne Public Library, will be offering activities and crafts with a more cerebral bent.

Once Upon a Time children’s store will be decorating balloons and other surprises.

Music:

Queen Anne Greenways will sponsor the Snake Suspenderz band from 5pm to 7pm to entertain both the Playstreet kiddos and Market shoppers. They will entertain with brassy versions of polkas, waltzes, swing and other old time sing along and dance tunes. A ukele, a guitar, a trombone a tuba and drums play a relentlessly quirky blend of novelty songs and hits of the 1920’s and 30’s, with a generous helping of original tunes written in those styles.

Yoga:

Corey Lynn Atencio will be giving a Yoga session at 4:30 pm to calm your nerves – and prepare you for more activity.

QAFM:

Finally, there will be lots of food available, courtesy of the fleet of food trucks that serve the Farmers’ Market. The Playstreet will provide tables and chairs which families can use for dinner and other group activities.

Thanks to Queen Anne Greenways and the Playstreet sponsors, Queen Anne Community Center Advisory Board and the Queen Anne Chamber of Commerce, for this year’s Playstreet!
