Seattle Animal Shelter Pet of the Week: Marley the Gecko

Posted on December 1st, 2017 by Laura Fonda

Marley is a super cool leopard gecko looking for her forever home! She is currently regrowing her tail which doesn’t mean anything special for her care, she just looks a little different. Marley is easy to care for; she loves crickets and has become a great hunter.

Her foster family is working on getting her more accustomed to handling. She is very excited to crawl around and explore when taken out of her habitat. She is one of the fastest geckos the vet tech had ever met! She is very interested in hands and has never acted aggressively toward them. She spends most of her day hanging out in her warm rock hide.

Geckos can live to be 20+ years old. Marley is 15 years and 2 months old. Geckos need a large aquarium habitat with heat lamps and hiding spaces. They eat crickets and mealworms. Gecko’s are generally friendly, like Marley! While speedy little lizards, they can get used to being handled and will even crawl all over you.

If you are interested in adopting Marley (#36553886), please fill out a Small Animal Application available at the Shelter or online and then meet with an animal care officer for review. The Seattle Animal Shelter is located at 2061 15th Ave W in Seattle.

Disclaimer: Queen Anne View has not met any of these pets – SAS is providing us with the description, as they know them well. We encourage potential adopters to get in touch with SAS and work with them to evaluate the compatibility of your home and a new pet. Happy adopting!
