Wooden boats… Wooden bats. Coincidence? We think not.

Seattle Mariners offer reduced price tickets to support The Center for Wooden Boats’ Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival

The Center for Wooden Boats is pleased to team up with the Seattle Mariners to offer fans the opportunity to purchase a ticket to the game against the Baltimore Orioles at Safeco Field the evening of Monday July 2nd for a special reduced price of only $15 (normally $20). And for every ticket sold though this online offer, the Seattle Mariners will make a $7 donation to CWB to support its efforts to preserve the Northwest’s Maritime heritage, and pass it on to future generations.

The 36th Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival will run from Saturday, June 30th, through Wednesday, the 4th of July. “What could be more fun on the Monday during our festival than to come down and spend a day looking at the boats and enjoying Lake Union Park, and then hopping the trolley and light rail down to Safeco Field to enjoy a ballgame,” said Betsy Davis, Executive Director of The Center for Wooden Boats. “This festival is fun for the entire family, and capping a day of wooden boats, with an evening of wooden bats just makes sense in a Seattle sort of way.”

During the festival, visitors will be able to enjoy dozens of historic sailing and rowing vessels from the CWB collection, plus many historic private vessels brought to the show by their proud owners. Festival attendees can explore the many styles of boatbuilding in the Northwest, ranging from modern skiffs and cedar strip kayaks to traditional Native-American cedar canoe.

Activities for the kids include toy boat building and story time aboard the historic tug boat Arthur Foss. Kids will also be able to build a kite and fly it from the festival grounds and sail model boats in the park’s boat pond. Local music talent will be featured on the festival stage and patrons will enjoy food and a beer garden run by Jillian’s Billiards, where people will be able to wet their whistle while they play nautical trivia.

To take advantage of this special offer, fans of wooden boats and wooden bats just need to log on the baseball club’s online ordering systems at www.mariners.com/CWB and buy as many tickets as they need.  The Mariners will handle everything else, and make a donation to the museum for every ticket sold.

The free public Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival this year opens this year on Saturday, June 30th and run to Wednesday, the 4th of July.  The special Mariners Night at the Mariners event happens after the festival closes for the day on Monday, July 2nd.
