Weekend traffic advisory: Music and Marches

Today at least 500 Seattle area students will attend the Seattle Symphony’s Friday Matinee Concert at Benaroya Hall. Approximately six school buses will drop off the students at 12 noon on University Street between Second and Third avenues.  Motorists can expect congestion in the area.

On Saturday, April 7, Seattle Police will escort two protest marches. The first, March Against Violence, will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The march, with 225 participants, will start at the corner of Rainer Avenue S and S Holden Street.  Walking south on Rainier to S Henderson Street, the march then heads west on Henderson to Rainer Beach High School.

The second march, Justice for Trayvon Martin, begins at 3:30 p.m. with at least 2,000 participants starting at 19th Avenue and E Madison Street.  Moving west on Madison to Sixth Avenue, the marchers turn right going north on Sixth to Pine Street, then make a left at Pine walking west to Fourth Avenue and on into Westlake Park.
