MightyKidz Childcare

MightyKidz Childcare began in Magnolia in January of 2014 with husband and wife owners Kyla and Jeff Liboon. Kyla was working at a large corporate childcare for 4 years as a teacher and program coordinator and became pregnant with their first child. After having a rough time dropping her first born off in childcare, mind you, this is the childcare in which she worked, Jeff and Kyla re-evaluated things and decided to sell their town-home in Magnolia, buy a house, and renovate it in order to run an in-home childcare center. On day one, MightyKidz was full and had a waitlist! This is when Jeff and Kyla realized the need for quality childcare in the Seattle area. They began their search for commercial properties, and two and a half years later, they are excited to be opening their doors in Upper Queen Anne, occupying the first floor of All Saints Church, and in Lower Queen Anne, on 1st Ave in the Astro building.

The two centers are currently enrolling children 3 months – 60 months of age. Spots are filling up quickly, between the two centers, we will be able provide a warm, nurturing, and stimulating environment for nearly 100 children! Both centers will offer a child-centered, emergent curriculum to maximize engagement and learning. Our curriculum is developmentally appropriate to enhance social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth in young children. The classroom environment is carefully designed to reflect our student’s interests and to cultivate positive self-image, independence, and interdependence. We advocate consistent communication with parents. MightyKidz Childcare uses the brightwheel app to communicate with parents throughout the day. Parents receive pictures, updates on naps, feeding, and diapering, and can see all of the curricular activities their child is engaged in. Our current parents scream praise about the brightwheel app, noting that it truly connects them with their child throughout the day.

MightyKidz is dedicated to employ and retain highly qualified teachers who have both the experience and education necessary to offer each child the early childhood education that he/she deserves. Shelby Holzknecht is the Director or the Upper Queen Anne Location and has been working for MightyKidz for two years. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Childhood Development, has an Early Childhood Education Certificate, and has been working in the field for 7 years. Shelby and her husband just welcomed their first child into the world and are thrilled that he will be able to attend MightyKidz when the doors open. Rachel Peterson is the Executive Director of MightyKidz and Director of the Lower Queen Anne location. Rachel obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Children’s Studies, has her Master’s in Teaching, and carries a Washington State Teaching Credential. She is a mother of 2 and has been working in the field of education since 1999. Kyla Liboon, Owner and Head of Operations, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences and has an Early Childhood Education Certificate, with nearly 10 years of experience in the field. Kyla is a mother of 2 and will continue to oversee the Magnolia location. Kyla, Shelby, and Rachel all share a passion for the early learners and aim to create an environment that will give all parents piece-of-mind as they drop their children off for a day of exploration and discovery.
