Seattle Animal Shelter Pet of the Week: Blue

Pet of the Week

On Fridays we feature an adoptable pet from the Seattle Animal Shelter (SAS). SAS is located at 2061 15th Ave W, just north of Whole Foods, at the corner of W. Armory Way. SAS is open Wednesday – Sunday, noon-6pm.

Queen Anne View has not met any of these pets – SAS is providing us with the description, as they know them well. We encourage potential adopters to get in touch with SAS and work with them to evaluate the compatibility of your home and a new pet.

Blue 1Meet Blue!

She’s a beautiful brown-eyed Husky, and at two years old, she’s quite athletic, exuberant and super confident. While she’s got some great tricks up her sleeve (er, paw?) — sit, down and shake — she’ll definitely benefit from further training with her new people. She’s extremely food motivated, making training that much easier. While Blue is friendly and outgoing, she’s also rather independent.

Blue 2Blue recently went on an outing to Green Lake with some volunteers. She jumped right into the crate and rode quietly in the car. She had a great time, and other than wanting to chase squirrels, she behaved great amid all the walkers, bike riders and other dogs.

The ideal home for Blue will be very dog experienced, and breed experience or knowledge would be very helpful. She’ll need regular mental and physical stimulation — hiking and jogging are her favorites. Kids age 13 and older would be great. Blue is good with some other dogs, but must have a cat and critter free home. A calm, quiet household is preferable. And she’s not a dog you can leave unattended in the backyard, she can easily jump right over a fence!

Beautiful Blue will be a loving, intriguing and entertaining companion — come see for yourself!

Blue (SAS #13-4770) is at the Seattle Animal Shelter. Dog Adoption Applications are available in the Shelter lobby, or you may download the application and bring it with you to the Shelter or follow the directions to submit it via email or fax. If you have general questions about this dog, you may call the Shelter’s Animal Care Staff at 206-386-4294.
