Have you registered for the Crown of Queen Anne Fun Run/Walk yet? Well, if the answer is yes, then you’re already set to kick off Queen Anne Days, a community celebration sponsored by our local Queen Anne Merchants, the Queen Anne Helpline, and the Queen Anne Chamber of Commerce. And the Fun Run/Walk is just the start!

Queen Anne Days 2013Saturday, July 13th is the premier day for Queen Anne Days, with tons of celebratory fun for all ages.

So what to expect? Well, there’s the aforementioned 3.3 mile Queen Anne Helpline Crown of Queen Anne Fun Run/Walk that starts at 5th Ave W and W McGraw at 8am for walkers, 8:20am for runners. Pre-registration runs though July 11th and $35/person gets you a t-shirt and an early morning of neighborhood fun. (same-day registration is $40/person). All entrants under age 5 are free, but it’ll run you $10 for a kid’s t-shirt. T-shirts and numbers are available to registered participants at the Queen Anne Farmers Market. You can also register and pick up your t-shirts and numbers at the Queen Anne Helpline Office at 311 W McGraw Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm.

Then, starting at 10am, the Queen Anne Merchants will be hosting a sidewalk sale. Queen Anne Ave N from Galer to McGraw will be decorated with festive umbrellas and balloons marking our local shops participating in the sidewalk sale.

Queen Anne Days 2013 agendaNext up, the Kiddie Parade, a community event that is open to the young and the young at heart alike. Begin lining up for the Kiddie Parade at 10:30am on Saturday, July 13th at 1st W and Crockett St. The theme is wide open, so get out your favorite costumes, hats, and festive attire – think Halloween in July! Plus, there’s an open call for anyone who plays an instrument and wants to form an impromptu marching band. The parade runs until noon, ending at the Queen Anne Community Center in time for the community BBQ.

The West Queen Anne Playfield (next to the Queen Anne Community Center) will be the staging area for fun events throughout the rest of the day. The Marqueen Garage is hosting a car show at 11am at the Playfield (stay tuned for a post with the details on getting your car or motorcycle in on the action) at 11am, and our local Queen Anne merchants will have tables set up so you can meet and greet our businesses too.

And, after you’ve perused the cars and the merchant tables, grab some grub at the Queen Anne Community Center Picnic and BBQ. The grills get fired up at noon and food will be available until 3pm. Plus, the Playfield will have Bounce Houses for kids and live music for all (rock and bluegrass bands).

Join in for a great Saturday at home, on Queen Anne! And, extend your Queen Anne Days to Sunday by supporting our local merchants and thanking them for helping make Queen Anne Days possible.

If you’re a Queen Anne merchant, and would like to participate in Queen Anne Days, please contact Sabrina 206.286.1024, Craig 206.940.3765, Diane 206.285.9100 or Charley 206.412.5802.
