Turkey Trot logoWhile it may be a neighborhood away, the annual Seattle Turkey Trot that routes runners through Ballard is the Thanksgiving Day run to do!

The Turkey Trot was a true grassroots effort when Ballardites Erin Fortier, Matt Ramme, and John O’Brien organized the first event after running the Portland Turkey Trot nine years ago – and realizing Seattle had no equivalent. (and, hey, we can’t be outdone by Portland, can we?)

The 8th annual Turkey Trot is a 5K run-or-walk that kicks off on Thanksgiving morning at 9am. Early Registration is $25 for adults and $15 for kids 10 & under – the deadline is Tuesday, November 18th. The registration proceeds benefit the Ballard Food Bank, with last year’s event bringing in over $90,000.

The Turkey Trot is family-friendly and turkey costumes are welcome! Join nearly 3,000 other runners/walkers this year and get a work-out before your Thanksgiving feast!

The Seattle Turkey Trot route starts at 32nd Ave NW and NW 85th St and the finish line is at Golden Gardens Park. After your trot, you can head back home to Queen Anne and feast away guilt-free!
