New French bistro Entre Amis to open in March

A few weeks ago, we noticed liquor license activity for the old Portage spot at 2209 Queen Anne Ave N. A little over a year ago, Cioppino opened in the former digs of French restaurant Portage. It papered over the windows in the early summer of 2014 for renovations, but nothing happened with the Italian eatery after it essentially closed up shop.

Then, just last month, Entre Amis took over Cioppino’s liquor license. I reached out to the new owner and he confirmed that he was planning to open a French bistro in the new year.

Right now, the new bistro is in the permit and construction phase, but just this week, a sign was posted in the window – Entre Amis Bistrot will open in March 2015.

I’ve walked by the location dozens of times looking for signs of life. Today, a tip from a reader (thanks, Mark!) clued us in to a sign announcing the new French restaurant – about 10 minutes after I walked by the location and missed it.

Thanks as always to our readers for catching those items we sometimes miss – and, get ready for a return to French cuisine on Queen Anne Ave!
