On Fridays we feature an adoptable pet from the Seattle Animal Shelter (SAS). SAS is located at 2061 15th Ave W, just north of Whole Foods, at the corner of W. Armory Way. SAS is open Tuesday – Sunday, noon-6pm.

Queen Anne View has not met any of these pets – SAS is providing us with the description, as they know them well. We encourage potential adopters to get in touch with SAS and work with them to evaluate the compatibility of your home and a new pet.

Iggy Azalea (snuggly iguana) – available for adoption
Goldie (glamorous orange and white feline) – adopted!
Buttercup (hippity hoppity bunny) – available for adoption
Walter & Jesse (friendly pair of rats) – available for adoption

Calling all cat lovers!

Over the months, we’ve featured three sweet kitties that for some reason are still looking for their forever homes. Maybe you were on vacation and missed Mama’s post. Or had a crazy busy week and didn’t get a chance to read about Folson. Here’s your second chance. These sweeties have been waiting patiently in their foster homes, but they’d be thrilled to meet you. Just call the Foster Care Hotline at (206) 684-0685 to arrange a meeting.

Mama the Nurturer

Mama 1Mama’s name reflects all the nurturing qualities she displays daily. She loves to show affection and warmth. She is a lap cat and enjoys nestling up to you whether you are sitting on the couch or lying in bed. Mama is about 9 years young and gets along well with other cats. It took her no time at all to befriend her foster mom’s 1 year old cat, proving that she can keep up with the youngins. In fact, she’d prefer a home where either her person is home a lot, or where she has another cat to keep her company while her person is at work.

Mama needs a little extra TLC because she has diabetes. She’s on a special diet and requires a very low dose of insulin twice a day. She’s in great health otherwise, and is super easy to medicate. The vet says that perhaps over time she can be cured. But even with the diabetes, she’s a low-key kitty that’s easy to care for. She’s house-trained, spayed and arrived at the shelter declawed. Mama will make someone a great pet, and give a lot of love in return!

Thea the Hunter

Thea 1Thea’s a gentle, friendly young girl who would like to be your only pet. Calm and affectionate, Thea loves head and chin rubs. At times, she’ll climb straight into your arms and purr madly in your ear; at others, she might hang back a little and let you bring the love to her. Either way, Thea is very much a people’s cat and a fan of human attention! And she’s quite the ferocious little hunter – just watch her eyes light up and her rump start to wiggle when a string toy crosses her path!!

If you’ve never had a cat before, easygoing Thea would be a great match for you; she’s sweet and even quite cooperative about being brushed. Did we mention that she’s gorgeous, too? Modest Thea would never call attention to it herself, but she is one fine-looking little girl, with her pink nose and classic black and white markings.

Folson the Brave

Folson 1Folson is a gorgeous, dark-furred beauty of a tabby. Her most charming qualities may be her positively plush-perfect fur coat and soulful, piercing green eyes. She’s a fun-loving, adventuresome girl who’s rather brave. Folson adapts easily to new environments and loves to explore. She can often be found perched on a windowsill gazing outside, lost in thought – we’re sure she’s imagining all sorts of outdoor exploits.

Folson also loves lazy weekends curled up on a cushion. Sometimes she’ll come over and watch a movie with you, especially if you look extra comfy! She’s a pro with the litter box, up to date on her shots and spayed. Overall, she’s a pretty mellow lady with a playful streak that would love nothing more than to meet the human(s) that will love her unconditionally and give her a forever home.

If you’re interested in any of the kitties featured this week, call the Foster Care Hotline at (206) 684-0685 to arrange a meeting. Hopefully next week we can report that all three have been adopted!!
