A new business has moved into the space above Eat Local, and it nearly missed our radar. But, a reader clued us in (thanks, Michelle!) and I stopped by Strawberry Moon this weekend to check out our newest Queen Anne shop.
You won’t notice a change to the building from the exterior, but Strawberry Moon has set up shop above Eat Local to serve fresh, natural juices and more. When they’re open, a sandwich board will fill you in on the daily specials, and while a bit tucked away, it’s easy to access via a staircase in Eat Local – a true hidden gem.
The shop has been open a couple of weeks, so they’re still getting set up and have plans for the future. When I stopped by over the weekend, they had just set up a new espresso machine, and they hope to eventually expand and add seating too.
Juices aren’t a new thing for Strawberry Moon, and neither is Queen Anne. Founder Sean is a yoga teacher at Haute Yoga Queen Anne and Strawberry Moon has been making cold press juices for almost 5 years. The juices were first sold at Haute Yoga, then via home delivery, and a few refrigerators around Seattle. Now, the retail “Remedy Room” brings juice, as well as healthy snacks, soups-to-go, salads, bone broths, smoothies, healthy sodas, and more to Queen Anne.
According to Sean, “In our new space we will be developing a dogma free health conscious food options for a life on the go… Eat Local is a good fit because they offer clean natural food.”
I tried the Blood Orange Ruby Red soda, an all-natural juice with just a touch of fizz – billed as an alternative to sodas, it’s tasty and refreshing, and you can try it for $5 a glass right now.
The shop is open 7 days a week, 8am-7pm Mondays-Thursdays, 8am-5pm Fridays and Saturdays, and 9-5 on Sundays. To find this hidden gem of a juice spot, just enter through Eat Local at the corner of Queen Anne Ave N and McGraw St and follow the signs up the stairs to Strawberry Moon.
