Seattle Animal Shelter Pet of the Week: SAS Foster Heroes – Getting to know Rita and her foster mom Nix

Posted on September 7th, 2017 by Laura Fonda

Rita is a 12-year-old sweet and gentle cat looking for a quiet forever home to fill with her purrs. She is visually impaired but that doesn’t stop her from being an explorer. Rita enjoys mapping new places, meeting new people and is very comfortable around other pets.

Rita loves cuddling and doesn’t hesitate to ask for petting. Nix, Rita’s foster mom, has been a volunteer for over a year and has been fostering Rita since October 2016. She only has words of love and compassion for Rita and her previous SAS foster cats.

“When I go to my family on holidays I always talk about my fosters and what they are doing. They become part of your life, you get to know them really quick for a short period of time and help them find the perfect family. It’s really fun! Although it can be hard saying goodbye, you know that they are going to the arms of someone who is going to love and take care of them.”

Rita would like a calm home that appreciates her Zen nature and comes with warm spots to take catnaps! Currently, she lives in a foster home with another cat and doesn’t mind a feline companion as long as her personal space is respected.

**Important Note** You won’t find this kitty at the shelter. This kitty is waiting patiently in foster care for your call. Please contact the Foster Care Hotline at 206-684-0685 to arrange a meeting.

Rita also qualifies for the Senior Citizen Discount program (learn more by clicking here). You can also be a foster parent! We are always looking for volunteers who can take care of animals in their homes.

Disclaimer: Queen Anne View has not met any of these pets – SAS is providing us with the description, as they know them well. We encourage potential adopters to get in touch with SAS and work with them to evaluate the compatibility of your home and a new pet. Happy adopting!
