Our recent post about Communique closing in the new year generated a lot of comments on Facebook and on the blog. A theme definitely emerged – shop local so independent shops stay on Queen Anne.
Now, while some of the most recent business closures are due to owners retiring, there are still empty storefronts on Queen Anne. If Queen Anne is known for supporting small, independent businesses, hopefully these locations will have a better chance of filling up with unique shops.
Help keep our local Queen Anne businesses going strong by shopping in the neighborhood. Our merchants not only help create the character of Queen Anne, but they also give back to the community.
And, while you’re out shopping on Queen Anne, here are some businesses can help you give back this holiday season:
Queen Anne Helpline Tree Lot, 2100 Queen Anne Ave N (Safeway north parking lot)
A holiday giving list wouldn’t be complete without the tree lot that benefits the Queen Anne Helpline. Open through December 21st or until they run out of trees!
Laurie Swanson Massage, 1817 Queen Anne Ave N, #210
Raffle to win a package of 5-60 min. massages. $5 per entry. Enter as many times as you like throughout December. Proceeds benefit the Queen Anne Helpline. Let’s help our neighbors in need! Drawing will take place 1/2/15 and winner will be notified by email.
Pharmaca, 1990 Queen Anne Ave N
Pharmaca is partnering with Solid Ground this Holiday Season, through December 24th. The goal of Solid Ground is to end poverty in the Seattle Area. Customers can purchase a gift bag ($10-$25) containing essential toiletries or baby items which Pharmaca will donate on the customer’s behalf.
If you know of a business that has a giving tree or something similar, just let us know and we’ll add it to the list. Happy Holidays!
