Queen Anne is one of 18 stairway walks to celebrate Stairway Walks Day
The second annual Stairway Walks Day is Saturday, February 8th, so sign up and mark your calendars. The walk begins at 10am and runs about 2 hours, winding around the southwest part of Queen Anne. The walk is free, although Feet First is asking for a mere $5 donation.
There are 17 other Stairway Walks in other Seattle neighborhoods and even as far away as Bellevue and Burien – so if you’ve done the Southwest Queen Anne stairs, you can explore further afield.
The February 8th date coincides with Seattle Neighborhood Appreciation Day, and Feet First is expecting 450 participants total.
If you happen to pass a group of 25 or so people ascending or descending our stairways that day, be sure to welcome them to Queen Anne!
Join Feet First for a free Queen Anne Stairway Walk on Sunday
Maybe you’re just looking for some undiscovered stairways or perhaps you have out-of-town guests who’d like to experience our neighborhood – or enjoy an urban hike – via foot on a free Feet First sponsored walk. Either way, it’s free!
The walk begins bright and early at 9am, and takes participants on a 6.5 mile excursion around Queen Anne stairways, with views included as a bonus. Be sure to bring sturdy shoes and dress for the weather.

Feet First to Host Free Queen Anne Stairway Walk (and other neighborhoods too)
Update: overnight, the Queen Anne Stairway Walk sold out (can we complain? It means our ‘hood is popular!). Other neighborhoods still have spots, and we’ll update if Feet First adds more spots – or if you want to start your own informal group, let us know!)
If you missed the October Queen Anne Stairway Walk led by Jake and Cathy Jaramillo, authors of Seattle Stairway Walks, or if you just want to attend the walk again, here’s your opportunity.
Feet First is presenting the first Stairway Walks Day on Saturday, February 9th, and the Southwest Queen Anne stairway walk is on the agenda. The Seattle-wide event features 15 walks across neighborhoods to highlight a selection of Seattle’s 650 publicly accessible stairways.

The guided walks will be routes from the Jaramillos’ book, and will be led by Feet First volunteers. The event is free, but the walks are limited to 20 people per walk – so register now if you want to attend.
And, if you’re interested in exploring stairways outside of our Queen Anne, additional walks will be held in Fremont, Golden Gardens, Maple Leaf, Madrona, Eastlake and North Capitol Hill, Downtown, West Seattle, and Rainier Beach. And, if you want to venture outside of city limits, you can tour the stairs of Burien, Bellevue, and Mercer Island.
